A sad farewell

The time has come to say farewell to a very important part of our team. PamC has decided to 'retire.' Here she says a few words:
It was just over 2 years ago that Pam J and I decided to take the leap and start our own business selling cloth diapers.  Over the past 2 years, I have learned so much, not only about running a business but also about diapers and baby carriers and all the environmentally-friendly options that are available to us as parents.  It’s been quite a journey, but the time has come for it to end for me.    With the arrival of my second child, I find it too difficult to find that happy balance between work and family, and I don’t like to see either suffer for lack of attention.  So, I have decided to step down from Tiny TreeHugger to spend more time with my family.  Pam J will continue on with the business.  I’d like to thank her for all her dedication and hard work, and wish her much success in the future.  I’d also like to thank you, our customers.  I have enjoyed getting to know you, meeting your little ones, and helping you with making “greener” choices for your own families.
~PamC
So sad to see you go PamC but we know it's the best decision for you and your family right now!  I really appreciate all the hard work you put into Tiny TreeHugger the last few years & helping to get it off the ground.

With PamC's decision, will of course come some change. Since she is the Winnipeg contact for Tiny TreeHugger, local pickups will become only once a week [on average] & may not be the same day each week, unless otherwise arranged of course! All orders will now be shipped from Niverville. There will be one last pickup morning at PamC's before the month is over as well!

Bear with us as the change over happens and we smooth out any wrinkles that may occur! Thanks so much...

June2010

Is it summer time now? Sure feels like it here!  Although it is hard to get used to loving my boys playing in the dirt. We have no grass yet. Just dirt and TONNES of mud after the rains we have had lately. Not something to complain about because after almost 7 long months of renting a dive, we are now in our half completed home that my husband spent so many hours on!  We feel very blessed to have the opportunity to do this. It is quite an adventure.

If you aren't 'connected' to us via facebook or twitter, then I will try to keep you up to date on what is going on around here!  (Especially since I haven't sent out a newsletter lately...)  On the way we have more unbleached infant and premium sized prefolds, also Thirsties NEW Duo Hemp Prefolds!  I absolutely LOVE the feel of their new hemp. It is custom made especially for Thirsties and 25% more absorbent then other prefolds and very trim too!  I don't have too many of these yet in my own personal stash but let me tell you - after wash day is done this is the first one I grab and it is paired great with a duo wrap...

Also get your AMP preorder in to us before Friday! We are placing an order then. You will get 15% off your preorder. What a DEAL!! Email us if we don't have what you are looking for on our site...

Ok enough fluff talk!  I want to see if anyone has used the Pampers Dry Max at all?  (It's okay to admit it! Even we use disposables and have them on hand 'just in case.') There has been much controversy about them, and about Pampers bashing the use of cloth diapers too! This is what pampers.com's headline said "Pampers Is Committed To Your Baby's Health, Happiness, and Safety."  It still won't convince me, especially when there are so many reports about rashes and bum burns!

Even Huggies are coming out with a patterned diaper that looks like a pair of jean shorts. If you ask me, they are trying to add the cuteness factor just like cloth diapers too!  I wonder when they will come out with a washable one too?  Hmmmm...

That's all my thoughts today! What do you think? Do pictures make a post more exciting?  Next time I will add some for some visual eye candy too :)

Stay tuned for Local Drop In Morning dates and something you ALL love - FREE STUFF... because birthdays need to be celebrated!!

New and not so...

There are new things happening around here!  It's spring, don't you feel it?  Well, for all of April, we definitely felt it, but now it is raining out (although MUCH needed...).  And a tad better then the snow we hear some Albertans were getting lately!

We like to feel the comment love so feel free to comment and let us know what you are thinking!

With the new-ness of spring comes new products we are carrying!  Some from the same companies, and more companies added to our lines as well. Check out the New! link on the homepage to see what is happening...

We LOVE supporting local companies and have finally added Winnipeg's own AMP Diapers to our list of products!  Right now we only have the One Size Duo Diapers, with hemp and bamboo inserts.  Back when my almost 3 year old was just a wee one, the AMP hemp insert was the first hemp insert I ever tried!  It's hard to believe it was just that long ago...

A part of the cloth diaper craze that has definitely interested me is the array of beautiful prints that come out!  Thirsties just introduced the Duo Wrap (with Aplix {aka Velcro}, and also Snaps now!) in some very very very cute prints!  Which one is your favorite?
We have heard of a few people's plans for the summer and would love to hear yours!  S tells us she is taking her little sweat pea to the cottage for a few weeks and has already looked into somewhere to wash her diapers.  Great idea and planning ahead!!

Camping trips also make it possible too!  Especially 2-3 days away.  That is how long we go between washes anyways but for some you may need to bring your whole stash or even get a few extra prefolds or inserts (we recommend hemp or bamboo, and suggest that you don't put microfiber against a baby's skin) that can fold to fit into any pocket diaper or diaper cover!

Have your larger pail liner sitting in the car or tent/camper and during the day just put soiled diapers/inserts into a travel wetbag. Don't forget your swim diaper that you can hang to dry between trips to the beach or pool! As seen below, even Wubbanubs make it to the beach ;)  This lil boy is turning THREE on Monday. Oh how time flies...

Hope to hear more from us, and we hope to hear more from YOU!  Thanks for sticking around.

Blog, Events and Primetime

If anyone knows me (PamJ here) they know what I like.  They know I like matching and coordinating things.  Pretty colors.  And things just need to WORK well together. Well, keep your EYEs out for a makeover!  Because it needs to match right?

There are so many more things that are going to be announced here that PamC and I are pretty excited about!
[[Hint:look at our event calendar]]

On a sidenote:  CSI NY is on in the background and the one woman said to her investigator husband "ugh, we need diapers... AND wipes."  Who says that?  I had to stress to my husband that we do NOT say that.  Well, not in the 'we need to go to the store and buy some because we are almost out' sort of way.  Maybe in the way that 'we HAVE to try out the new Thirsties Duo Diaper that just came out!'  That may be what got me addicted.  Maybe not.  I will still tell you that cloth diapering the last two of my three children has saved me TONNES of hard earned cash, and most importantly, the environment!

Oh NO! Anyone notice that last blog post date? I am so very deeply ashamed. That should NOT happen! I think it's Pam's fault. Not saying which one ;)

Do you read here at all? If so, we want to hear what you have to say. We wouldn't BE here without you!

You are what DRIVES us.

We are here to help, to answer questions. Maybe to giveaway things too?

Pardon? What was that? Did I just say the magic word? Is that what is going to take for comments here or more Facebook FANS? I LOVE seeing the number get higher and higher with the new fans... so maybe a prize in the future that is geared towards YOU (because I am sure that there are some people OUT of diapers that check in on us).

Pam C and I have some super awesome things going on behind the scenes at Tiny TreeHugger. We are getting a test drive package finalized and ready to put up. Do you have any name suggestions? Check out our Facebook Fan Page and add your suggestions!
We are clearing out the final few WAHMies and Rocky Mountain Diapers to make way for the next order of them that come with inserts! Our in stock ones do not currently include them.

Have you heard of Fuzzi Bunz's rewards program ending Friday? Not so much a secret, so read about it HERE and email us with your pre-order request, as we do not have any in stock but that will change after we make our order this weekend!

What else do you want to know?
How many diapers Pam C or I (Pam J) have in our stash? What do we reach for? How we wash? Well or town water? How often? Who makes the Sister Bags? And are they related to the Sling Sisters? (not at all actually!)

Maybe there are many other questions you want to know, so ask them! Go ahead, give it your all!! We are ready...

and for your viewing pleasure, a picture! to make this much less boring :) here is a WAHMies and Thirsties in action...

D-d-d-duo Wrap . . . !

It is the announcement I have been waiting for!!

Thirsties Duo Wraps are now in stock! I am so excited about these!! Not only are they a partner in one of the most cost effective diapering systems, they come in only two sizes that will fit from birth to potty. Which means, less sizes to go through and buy. I personally like using these with prefolds with my 5 month old, but my 2 year old wears these with fitteds. And guess what? They BOTH wear size 2! They come in some great colors too:
(My favorite is Meadow, Pam C's too I believe!)

Right now they cost only $15 each, but if you buy 6 or more you get 5% off! And if a birthday, special occasion, or 'just because' is coming up we now offer Gift Certificates! I don't like to mention how close it is in the warmer months but Christmas is just around the corner too :)

What's on your wishlist?!?
